Today, offices are more than just work stations and schools are more than just desks. These are places where people meet and spend time together. A well designed collaboration area provides an opportunity to people with different experiences, education and background, to come together to exchange knowledge and have fun.
Simple things like good seating can make a huge difference on how we feel and interact with each other. Creating spaces in the room by using sofas or lounge furniture quickly creates a junction for ideas and small talk. Since the number of seats does not need to be defined, the place can make everyone feel included and welcome. It reinforces cohesion at the workplace and creates a sense of belonging.

Great teamwork in the right environment
Apart from the social aspect, brainstorming ideas in a group is great way to discuss different opinions. The more we work together, the more trust is built between us, making us better at solving problems. The best ideas are often conceived in places other than the desk, for example in canteens, coffee corners or even the lift, where we naturally converse with others!
It's important to stretch; maybe take a break or get away from the desk, to refuel or take in new surroundings with a different feel, different lighting, different sounds and so on. We tend to choose a social area with a nice view, because it's a feel good environment.

We all love such common areas to be inviting and maybe even a little lively. You want this type of space to say "you can stay here" and at the same time have a sense of vitality. Dynamic furnishing awakes several senses simultaneously and stimulates creativity.
