Circular Solutions
Circular solutions are essential for building a sustainable future, helping to reduce material consumption and lower climate emissions. At AJ Products, we have developed our design strategy and added principles for a more sustainable and circular design.
Our design strategy now incorporates principles that emphasise sustainability and circularity. This includes using recycled materials, providing spare parts, ensuring traceability, and making it easier to repair and reuse our products.
We have launched several circular initiatives focused on product reuse, continuously evaluating and learning from these efforts. Our inventory of spare parts has grown significantly, with over 3,200 spare parts now available to extend the life cycle of our products.
Climate Impact
We calculate our climate-impacting emissions using the GHG Protocol, covering Scope 1 and 2 emissions, as well as parts of Scope 3. Our goal is to eventually measure all activities within Scope 3 and continually enhance the quality of our data.
Our overall goal is to reduce climate emissions throughout the entire chain. By gathering more data, we can set net-zero targets and better prioritise our efforts to reduce our climate impact. Currently, our largest emissions stem from purchasing products and services, followed by the waste management of sold products,transport and distribution.
Energy Use
We are dedicated to continuously reducing our energy use and increasing energy efficiency across our operations. Through various initiatives and measures, we have successfully decreased energy consumption in our factories, warehouses, and subsidiaries, resulting in a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions.
This achievement is largely due to improved energy efficiency and the installation of additional solar panels. Our factory in Poland, the head office in Halmstad, and the subsidiary in Lithuania already have solar panels installed, with plans to add solar panels to our factories in Slovakia and Lithuania as well.
Material Use
Reducing material consumption, utilising more renewable and recycled materials, and eliminating hazardous substances in our products are key aspects of our continuous improvement efforts. We are expanding our Material Portal and involving more suppliers, enabling us to gather data and verify documentation about the materials in our products. This strengthens our ability to substitute materials, track their usage, calculate climate impact, and meet various labeling criteria.
The number of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for products manufactured in our factories is on the rise. For environmental assessments, we have developed our own software, allowing us to deliver life cycle analyses and EPDs for a greater range of products.
Waste disposal
The more we recycle and sort, the less waste is burned. We prioritise handling materials and chemicals properly to minimize their impact on people and the environment. Our efforts are focused on reducing waste and increasing the proportion that goes on to be recycled and also reducing hazardous waste and managing it appropriately.
Over the years, we have successfully increased our recycling rates, significantly reducing the amount of waste sent to incineration and landfill.
